For our in-house “bench testing” we use a 15hp Toshiba electric motor controlled by a Yaskawa VFD to simulate the torque imparted on the shaft by the spinning rotor that is being driven by the kinetic energy in the wind. Since Mother Nature is not controllable and wind tunnels are not feasible, this system has been critical to our ongoing testing, especially the Dancing with the Wind feature that dynamically adjusts rotor RPM in order to maintain an optimal tip-speed-ratio throughout variable wind speeds. . . . #cleantech #windenergy #startuplife #renewableenergy #distributedenergy #der
