Uprise Energy has formed a partnership with Idaho National Laboratories (INL), a division of the US Department of Energy, to develop innovative renewable energy systems for distributed microgrid applications. To consummate the partnership, INL purchased an Uprise Energy 10kW portable wind turbine for R&D and demonstration purposes.

As part of the documentation of our journey to Idaho National Laboratories to deliver the MPS we interviewed two members of the INL team who were involved in the project. This interview is with Dylan Reed: INL Infrastructure and Security Department.

In this interview, Dylan speaks about:

• The modernization of grid technology starting to show a trend of local communities utilizing local microgrid technology
• A detailed overview of what is present on the testing location.
• The impact of mobile power generation on cyber security
• Safety concerns as related to smaller power generation devices

We clearly underestimated the impact of 20-40 mph wind on the audio quality of the recordings, but the information discussed in the interviews is important so we included them anyhow.
