Uprise Energy has formed a partnership with Idaho National Laboratories (INL), a division of the US Department of Energy, to develop innovative renewable energy systems for distributed microgrid applications. To consummate the partnership, INL purchased an Uprise Energy 10kW portable wind turbine for R&D and demonstration purposes.

As part of the documentation of our journey to Idaho National Laboratories to deliver the MPS we interviewed two members of the INL team who were involved in the project. This interview is with Kurt Myers: INL Engineer / Group Lead for the Distributed Energy and Grid Systems Department.

In this interview, Kurt speaks about:

• Utilizing the Uprise Energy MPS for research and development related to D3T (Defense and Disaster Deployable Turbine) as well as other military and defense programs.
• Utilizing the Uprise Energy MPS for research and development into deployable microgrid solutions.

We clearly underestimated the impact of 20-40 mph wind on the audio quality of the recordings, but the information discussed in the interviews is important so we included them anyhow.
